Siiiigh. I hate to see Cole go out like this. He is so painfully unaware of his creative and intellectual limitations and his most recent music and allegiances are a reflection of that. His 2018-2023 feature run very much felt like him trying to take from the Andre 3000 2006-2010 playbook (and maybe even early Luda/Lil Wayne), yet unlike those artists he hasn’t offered anything in his solo body of work that has significantly shifted the genre yet insists on deeming himself the GOAT, with very little evidence outside of being on songs with people he can easily outrap. He needs some deep soul searching that music is never going to lead him to.
